Accommodations, Techniques and Aids for Learning

The purpose of this qualitative study is to examine accommodations, techniques and aids that assist in learning for students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) in the general education classroom. A multidisciplinary team develops an IEP specific to student needs to assure success in the classroom. This research also explores the central learning struggle of reading where if decoding, fluency and comprehension are not proficient by second grade, the students will struggle with read deficiencies throughout life. Technology plays a major role in the research for this exploration.

Emerging Reading and Writing Strategies Using Technology

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between reading and writing strategies using technology for students of all ages, especially students of special needs. Educators, speech pathologist and parents are beginning to understand the importance of various media and technology tools at school and at home. This research information is based on the reaction of the student to text-based information. They have found that Electronic text is a medium for educators to observe students in the classroom and then design and implement authentic learning strategies based on the students interests. The repeated process of authentic learning by combining reading and writing activities creates an environment of motivation for the student.
